Weightlessness is used to describe the state of a body that is not subjected to any force external to itself. In Le Piquet, David Zagari explores this complex, universal and yet unique relationship between gravity and the weight of a body attempting to carry itself. A helmeted figure evolves in this intimate yet claustrophobic setting, maybe an astronaut stranded on the surface of an arid planet or a motorcyclist lost after a crash in the desert.
These clichés of heroic virility and aggressive conquest of space turn into symbols of introspection and loss of bearings. This collaborative solo brings together the different trajectories orbiting David’s life: contemporary dance, visual arts and pole dance. The sculptural set by Lucie Lanzini marks the first in an upcoming series of invitations to visual artists.
