Weekend Prolongé is 5 years old! Created in 2020, Weekend Prolongé has matured and become more professional with each passing year, to better support the young artists who will shape the cultural future of Fribourg. In order to meet their needs as effectively as possible, the festival strives, within its means, to alleviate the sense of emptiness felt by each artist at the end of their professional training. Every year, Weekend Prolongé offers artists of the same generation a precious opportunity to meet, to learn from each other, to share questions and aspirations, and to face the unknown together.

This year, the festival welcomes 11 emerging Fribourg artists from almost as many different schools in Switzerland and Europe. All performing arts genres will be represented, from circus and performance to dance and theater. Whether solo or collective creations, plurality will be the order of the day during these four days, which will close in style with a concert by the Fribourg group Nonante.

This year marks not only the fifth anniversary of the event, but also the creation of L’Oblique, an intercantonal network bringing together the cantons of Fribourg, Valais and Neuchâtel. This ambitious collaboration aims to strengthen emerging creation in these so-called “peripheral” cantons in relation to the Lake Geneva axis. This year, for the third time, the festival welcomes a project from the festival Fais comme chez toi and, for the first time, a project from the festival Qué Toi, the first edition of which will be held in Neuchâtel in October. Two projects from Fribourg will also be received in these cantons.
