Parade is a solo that revolves around the theme of seduction and the courtship rituals of birds. Parade sketches the imaginary possibilities of attraction. This project asks how to seduce beyond stereotypes. How can we create new imaginary worlds? How can we seduce ourselves? What imprint does seduction leave on our bodies? What does it mean to make a spectacle of oneself? Above all, Parade questions the relationship between seduction and the stage. Courtship rituals are used to convince a partner to mate with you. Every detail counts, every step necessary to create the best courtship ever. There is a relationship with performance, a vocabulary very close to the show, the rehearsals, the warm-ups, the moment of the big show, the success, the validation, the ultimate importance of this precise moment.
The project is inspired by Vinciane Despret’s book Living as a bird. She explains that by multiplying our worlds, we can make ours more habitable.
