“Joe Cocker, You are so beautiful. Making out on a flowered light brown sofa. I liked the man, I didn’t like the sofa at all.” - Music chains itself to events in our lives and never lets go. Emotions. Smells. Visual details. We hear a song, and fleeting moments emerge in front of our inner eye, as vivid as they were then. OH!Darling goes on a search for traces together with the Vocappella Choir Wettingen.
Hidden Tracks is an artistic research project on the question of how music is linked to our memories. 10 pop songs, which 10 choir members associate with moments in their lives, were arranged especially for the choir. While Vocappella musically explores the forms of remembering, the personal experiences are the prelude to Susanne’s research journey. The question of how and what we remember - and what we don’t - reveals social, pop-historical and psychological connections. Choir, conductor and performer become co-players and counter-players in the search for the special moments that music can trigger in us. Music and scene overlap in the sound space. Associatively and playfully, the web of Hidden Tracks weaves itself out of stories, music and research context.
