BLUE HOUR is a concert for acoustic solo piano that takes place at dawn, illuminated only by the arrival of daylight. Whether the light enters through a large east-facing bay window or through a small opening that pierces the darkness, daybreak is a process in perpetual change, before which pianist-composer Alain Roche invites the audience to pause for a moment. A single thread runs through the score, whether flexible and fragile in the wind, taut and bouncy in the cold, enveloping in the heat or hypnotic in the blue, it leads the listener, with fire and gentleness, into a moment of abandon. With BLUE HOUR, Alain Roche bares himself, without any artifice. A game played under the gaze of daylight.
